Call for Papers for Special Issue: Digital Humanities Research
Over the past decade or more, the focus of digital humanities in Taiwan and abroad has gradually shifted from digital archiving to research. Educational and research institutions overseas have also begun recruiting scholars and professionals with expertise in digital humanities. How digital tools can introduce new directions and methods into humanities research may become one of the most important questions facing the field in the coming decade. The Research Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Science and Technology has identified “The Convergence of Chinese Scholarly Traditions and the Development of Digital Technology” as its foremost forward-looking research topic, reflecting the growing attention paid to digital humanities in the field of Chinese studies.
This special issue focuses on the applications and outcomes of digital humanities in Sinological research. Submissions are invited on topics that employ digital tools to pursue questions or adopt approaches that differ substantially from traditional methods. The special issue aims to clarify the research paradigms of digital humanities and to provide a useful reference for Sinological research in Taiwan during this period of transition and development.
The special issue is scheduled for publication in June 2019. Scholars worldwide are invited to submit manuscripts by January 31, 2019.
