專題徵稿：出土文獻的語境

自近代考古學興起以來，甲骨、青銅、簡帛等上古文獻相繼問世，極大地開拓了學界對早期中國的認知視野。近數十載簡帛發掘成果尤為豐碩，無論是反映社會運行的行政文書，抑或性質近於傳世典籍的古書，皆為先秦至秦漢之政治、社會、經濟及思想研究提供了關鍵資料。然此類文獻年代久遠，其書寫形態與用詞習慣與後世迴異，故古文字之釋讀實為研究之首務。進而言之，出土文獻的解讀必須立足於對其歷史背景、社會文化及語言文字等多重語境的重構；兩者相互制約，構成學術研究的核心方法論。有鑒於此，清華大學中文系與中研院文哲所於2026年5月舉辦「第二屆出土文獻的語境國際學術研討會──周鳳五先生八十冥誕紀念」，並於會後策劃同名專題。

所謂「語境」，係指言語行為或書面表達所植根的背景環境，涵蓋時空維度、社會文化及心理要素。重建語境意在還原特定歷史脈絡下的現場情境，藉以闡明文本生成的具體條件、書寫動機及其表述邏輯。聚焦語境理論與方法之革新，不僅能深化出土文獻與古文字研究的學理基礎，更能透過跨學科對話，促進文字學、歷史學、考古學、哲學及經學間的互惠參照。研究實踐上，除關注字詞上下、篇章結構與器物群聯繫外，亦須考量墓葬遺址環境與歷史文化脈絡，並深究多重語境交織時的判斷與取捨。

本專題以各類出土文獻的語境為核心，誠邀各界就哲學思想、文字訓詁、經學史地、社會文化等面向惠賜卓見。企盼藉此平臺匯聚海內外最新研發成果，在深化學術影響力的同時，激發更多前瞻性議題的討論。本專題由邴尚白教授策劃，預計於2027年6月出刊。敬邀      海內外學界先進惠賜鴻文，截稿時間為2026年12月15日。

Special Issue Call for Papers: The Contexts of Excavated Texts

Since the rise of modern archaeology, ancient sources such as oracle bones, bronze inscriptions, and bamboo-and-silk manuscripts have been unearthed one after another, greatly expanding scholarly perspectives on early China. The past few decades have witnessed particularly abundant discoveries of bamboo and silk texts—ranging from administrative documents that reflect social operations to manuscript books akin to transmitted classics—all of which provide crucial materials for the study of politics, society, economy, and thought from the pre-Qin period through the Qin and Han dynasties. However, owing to their great antiquity, the writing forms and lexical usages of these texts differ markedly from later traditions; hence, the decipherment of ancient script is the primary task of research. Furthermore, the interpretation of excavated texts must be grounded in the reconstruction of their multiple contexts, including historical background, sociocultural setting, and linguistic environment. These two aspects are mutually constraining and together constitute the core methodology of scholarly inquiry. In view of this, the Department of Chinese Literature at National Tsing Hua University and the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy at Academia Sinica held the “Second International Conference on the Contexts of Excavated Texts: In Commemoration of the Eightieth Birthday of Professor Chou Feng-wu” in May 2026, and plan to publish a special issue under the same title following the conference.

By “context” is meant the background environment in which a speech act or written expression is rooted, encompassing spatial-temporal dimensions, sociocultural factors, and psychological elements. The reconstruction of context aims to restore the on-site circumstances within a specific historical setting, thereby elucidating the concrete conditions of textual production, the motives for writing, and the logic of expression. Focusing on innovations in contextual theory and methodology can not only deepen the theoretical foundations of excavated text and paleographical studies but also, through interdisciplinary dialogue, promote mutual reference among philology, history, archaeology, philosophy, and classical studies. In research practice, in addition to attending to the co-text of words and phrases, textual structure, and assemblages of material objects, one must also consider the tomb environment and the broader historical-cultural context, and carefully weigh judgments and choices when multiple contexts intersect.

This special issue centers on the contexts of various types of excavated texts and cordially invites contributions from all quarters on topics such as philosophical thought, textual exegesis, classical studies, history and geography, and sociocultural matters. We hope that this platform will bring together the latest research findings from both domestic and international scholars, deepening academic impact while stimulating discussion of more forward-looking issues. The special issue is planned by Professor Biing Shang-bair and is scheduled for publication in June 2027. Scholars and researchers worldwide are warmly invited to submit their valuable manuscripts; the submission deadline is December 15, 2026.
