三、專題徵稿：東亞脈絡下書信體文類之傳統與現代

近年來東亞文化場域中的書信體研究（epistolary study）備受矚目，相較西方文學自十八世紀以來作為虛構文類的書信體，二者有著截然不同的淵源與脈絡。有鑑於學界對東亞書信體之傳統模態與現代變奏尚未有整體性研究，本刊特此策劃「東亞脈絡下書信體文類之傳統與現代」專題，徵集各方同道就此作出進一步探索。

本次專題以書信的形構特質與文本意義之互相生成為焦點，期盼從不同層面探討「東亞書信體」的相關議題，例如：

1. 在現代理論觀照下，東亞傳統的「書信體」展現出何種形態與功能？其發展之跡有甚麼文化與社會意義？
2. 從溯源、返古隔代遺傳及歷史斷裂等視角來看，東亞脈絡下的當代書信體是否有新異的演變？
3. 什麼原因造就「東亞脈絡」此一特殊的書信體復興？
4. 在此積極、有意識的創作中，可以觀察到何種重複模式、主題、傾向與侷限？這些創作提供了哪些重新思索「書信體例」的可能？

Editorial Report for Issue 29

I. Publication of Issue 29 of the Tsing Hua Journal of Chinese Literature 
Issue 29 of the Tsing Hua Journal of Chinese Literature was published in June 2023. 

II. Ongoing Call for Papers
The Tsing Hua Journal of Chinese Literature welcomes submissions from scholars worldwide, including doctoral candidates. Manuscripts are accepted year-round and reviewed upon receipt.

III. Call for Papers for Special Issue: Tradition and Modernity of Epistolary Genres in the East Asian Context
In recent years, epistolary studies within the East Asian cultural sphere have attracted increasing scholarly attention. East Asian epistolary traditions have origins and historical trajectories markedly different from those of Western literature, in which the epistolary form has developed as a fictional genre since the eighteenth century. As the traditional forms and modern transformations of East Asian epistolary writing have yet to receive comprehensive study, the Tsing Hua Journal of Chinese Literature is organizing a special issue entitled “Tradition and Modernity of Epistolary Genres in the East Asian Context” and invites further research on this subject. The special issue focuses on the reciprocal formation of epistolary form and textual meaning. Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following questions:

1. What forms and functions do traditional East Asian epistolary genres reveal when examined through modern theoretical perspectives? What cultural and social significance can be found in their historical development?
2. Viewed from the perspectives of origins, atavistic revival, and historical rupture, have contemporary epistolary genres in East Asia undergone distinctive transformations?
3. What factors have contributed to the revival of epistolary writing in the East Asian context?
4. What recurring patterns, themes, tendencies, and limitations can be identified in these deliberate and self-conscious literary practices? What possibilities do they offer for reconsidering the conventions of epistolary writing?

The special issue is scheduled for publication in June 2024. Scholars worldwide are invited to submit manuscripts by September 15, 2023.
